A method is described for assessing thyroid status by estimating plasma thyroxine and dialysable thyroxine and multiplying these two to give a dialysable thyroxine index. Certain difficulties which sometimes invalidate other thyroid function tests are avoided. The techniques are relatively simple and clear differentiation between thyroid states can usually be made.
متن کاملPlasma leptin concentration in dogs with diabetes mellitus.
The plasma leptin concentration was evaluated in dogs with diabetes mellitus. Twenty normal and sixteen diabetic dogs were divided into nonobese and obese groups based on body condition score, respectively. The obese normal dogs had significantly higher plasma leptin concentrations than the nonobese normal dogs, whereas there was no significant difference between the nonobese and obese diabetic...

From out data bank, we analyzed results for thyroxine concentration in blood samples spotted on filter paper from different age groups (one to nine days postpartum) of our low-birth-weight and normal population. It was significantly lower in the low-birth-weight infants in almost all the age groups, and in both groups it significantly declined after postnatal day 5. The influence of weight is m...
متن کاملAutoantibodies against thyroid hormones and their influence on thyroxine determination with chemiluminescence immunoassay in dogs
Autoantibodies against thyroxin (T4AA) and triiodothyronine (T3AA) are present in dogs with autoimmune thyroiditis and have been reported to interfere with immunoassays. The objectives of this study were to determine the frequency of autoantibodies and to determine whether interference occurs by T4AA, using a non-immunological method (high performance liquid chromatography, HPLC) for thyroxin (...
